The Consortium of  “CHED – Chess platform for deaf people” project (project number: 613577-EPP-1-2019-1-RO-SPO-SCP) reached another goal.

With the objective to teach chess to deaf people by developing training tools, such as the platform in Sign Languages through which train the target group, the partners elaborated a curriculum and lists of skills propaedeutics to the courses. All the material is divided in initiation, basic, intermediate and advanced level, as well as is developed according to the analysis of the actual European situations in chess (and generally in sport) for the deaf community, of which you can read here.

The curriculum and list of skills, instead, are the bases for the lessons designed. In fact, the Consortium outlined the training foundation knowledge, among which rules, basis to read and use chessboard and chess pieces, the performance criteria and specific skills of the various chess strategies.

You can access the curriculum by clicking on this link, while you can find the lists of skills both in written and video versions. In fact, the lists of skills have been translated by the Consortium also in each national Sign Language (Italian, Polish, Armenian, Romanian, Turkish and Greek in addition to English). These video are available in the chess platform here: https://chessfordeaf.com/ and on YouTube, divided in initiation level, basic level, intermediate and advanced level. Instead, the written version is available here.

Besides, you can access these tools and know more about the following results by visiting the CEIPES portoflio and Facebook page!
